Jessie & Jen: Spearfish Canyon Lodge Wedding Photographer

Oh, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan. Was this day even REAL? Thank you for your thoughtfulness, your light-heartedness, and for being endlessly kind. I’m so happy our paths have crossed, and am even happier they’ll cross again. Enjoy a few of my favorites! —js

What was the most memorable moment from your wedding day?

Jen Says: After the wedding, we greeted our guests as they left the ceremony space to go to the reception space. It was so nice getting to hug everyone and talk. The best part, though, was after that Jessie and I stayed behind and were able to spend some time together and took pictures. It was so perfect–we had time to reflect that “Wow we just got married!” and had an opportunity to spend time together just the two of us.

Jessie Says: My most memorable moment of the wedding day was seeing my beautiful bride for the first time in her dress. Jen looked absolutely breath taking. It was definitely a big pay off for all the hard work she put in leading up to the wedding day.

Jessica’s Take: After Jen’s mom, Laurie,  finished buttoning Jen’s dress, her eyes welled up with tears seeing at her daughter in her dress. Such a sweet and joyful moment!

What was your favorite detail of the wedding day?

Jen Says: Our venue, Spearfish Canyon Lodge, was my favorite detail of the wedding. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, but more than that, the Lodge allowed us to be surrounded by our family and friends throughout the whole weekend. It was so much fun getting to spend time with everyone, starting on New Year’s Eve with our families. We couldn’t have asked for a better location to get married!

Jessie Says: My favorite detail of the wedding was the decorations. The ceremony and reception was picture perfect. Jen put a lot of time and detail into decorations and we had a lot of people in our corner to make everything come together.

Jessica’s Take: The candlelight. I couldn’t get enough of the center table at the reception. It was a long, family-style table, covered in live greenery and candles of varying shapes and sizes. It was so romantic, and the soft glow made the evening feel incredibly special, and brought an extra element of warmth. (And as a side note, each member of the wedding party was able to sit at the head table with their guest, rather than having to sit separately. I LOVE this way of doing things, as it makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable.)

Any advice for other couples planning a wedding?

Jen Says: As much as you can, try and plan and prepare before the big day so when it comes, you can sit back and enjoy one of the most important days of your life! We had amazing support around us that allowed us to really be present in the many little moments on our big day and for that I am forever grateful!

Jessie Says: My advice for other couples is don’t skimp on anything–its your big day! Soak it all in it goes by fast.

What’s the best part about being married so far?

Jen Says: Seeing the ring on Jessie’s finger really makes it seem real to me! I also love being able to finally call him my HUSBAND!

Jessie Says: The best part about being married so far is starting our new life and journey together. It’s exciting planning our new future together, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us.
