Brody and Heidi, looking back on your wedding day makes my heart sing. Thank you so very much for asking me to be a part of it, and for being so present and enjoying every moment of this day. I adore you, and hope life as Mr. & Mrs. is proving to be your best adventure yet. Enjoy a few of my favorites! —js

What was the most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Heidi Says: There are so many moments to choose from, I honestly can say our day was perfect! I was very organized and anticipated many of the moments in our day, but I had never planned to have a first look with my brothers. While putting on my dress I told the ladies I need a square knot on my belt. They all looked at each other, none of them knowing how to tie that. My sister-in-law said I need my expert brothers. Just as she was saying that out the cabin window we see my brothers walking…Long story short, my brother, Eric, tied my belt to my dress. It was a moment and a feeling I will never forget!
Brody Says: The most memorable moment from our wedding day was when I was standing at the front of the cathedral watching Heidi and her father walk down the aisle. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. It was easily the best moment of my life.
Jessica’s Take: During the father/daughter dance, each of Heidi’s three brothers cut in, and let me tell you, it took everything I had not to stop dead in my tracks and watch, rather than photograph the moment. (That’s not to say I didn’t tear up while snapping away behind my camera.) No matter how many weddings I photograph, I don’t think I’ll ever forget that. Heidi is so very loved.
What was your favorite detail of the wedding day?
Heidi Says: My favorite detail of the day was my belt to my dress. I loved how I wore it as a belt for the ceremony, but then cut the belt and used it as a fun hairpiece for the reception. I had so many compliments on it! Also, my flowers with a locket of my mom and her wedding ring were amazing. It helped having a piece of my mom with me throughout the day.
Brody Says: My favorite detail of the wedding day had to be Heidi’s dress. I hadn’t seen it until the wedding day and I was so amazed when I finally got to see her in it. She looked like a model. I also enjoyed some of the subtle decorations that were at our reception, for example, the picture of me on the boy’s bathroom door and of Heidi on the girl’s bathroom door.
Jessica’s Take: Heidi’s bridal “look” was perfection. She looked so special, but still let her natural beauty shine through. Her dress, her belt (turned hair piece!), and her shoes were classic and relaxed all at the same time. Also, they forgot a cake topper, so Brody’s mom (huge shout-out to Jan!) took polaroid photos and put them onto the cake. I couldn’t have loved it more.
Any advice for other couples planning a wedding?
Heidi Says: My advice to other couples planning a wedding is mostly to the brides: Pinterest and read blogs for two months then STOP. After that just start doing! The sooner you make, organize, and store your decorations the less stress you will have. Always stay in contact with your vendors, ask them questions, ask them for help, and help them get to know you and your groom. And most importantly ENJOY every minute of it even if you get so stressed you shed a tear.
Brody Says: My advice for other grooms out there getting married is to try to not get in the way, unless there is an aspect of the wedding that you feel very strongly about. I got lucky with Heidi and didn’t have to do much planning, but I did make sure to let her know some of the things that I felt were important.
What’s the best part about being married so far?
Heidi Says:: The best part about being married so far is the fact that WE ARE MARRIED. We have loved wearing our rings, organizing our place, introducing each other as “my husband” or “my wife”, talking about our future, sharing our wedding day stories, and beginning this new chapter in our life!
Brody Says: There are many great things about being married. It has been a joy coming home to my “wife.” We feel much more connected and it’s fun to talk about what the future has in store for us. It has been fun reminiscing about the wedding day, but we are even more excited about what’s ahead.
