Motherhood, Newborn & Family Portraiture

RAPID CITY + BLACK HILLS, SOUTH DAKOTA

February 25, 2011

It’s been too long since I’ve posted, and frankly, I feel a little failure-ish. One of my goals for the year was to blog more, even if it meant seemingly meaningless or random posts, because I want to get into the habit of writing and sharing and posting and taking pictures for the fun of […]

February 14, 2011

Today I looked over to see this beauty on my bulletin board.  I received it in the mail my second year of college, from my then twelve-year-old sister. She wanted to wish me a “super-duper awesome Valentine’s Day”. Those who know me probably know that I tend to hang on to things like this—sometimes a […]

Today is my friend’s birthday. He is one year old, and I’m not quite sure how that happened. In just a short time he went from a tiny, wrinkly newborn to a roly poly infant, to a boy who has teeth and can walk and say the name of his puppy. I’m happy to know […]

I buy them because of their name. And because they’re easy to peel. And, because just like fresh flowers, they bring color to the kitchen.  Who wouldn’t want that? Have a great weekend!

As you’re all well aware, Christmas is long gone. New Year’s Day is over. And it’s cold. Like, long underwear cold. Every year around this time I seem to end up in a rut. By the time March rolls around, I will try to convince you that spring doesn’t even exist, and I will shamelessly […]

December 31, 2010

It’s New Year’s Eve. Already. The year has flown by, and I feel more than blessed to have been able to work with the clients I have. I won’t say much for this post, other than that I intended to keep it to about twenty of my favorite wedding and engagement photos from 2010. Clearly […]

I love Christmas. LOVE. That’s right. Capitals and bold, together in one word. Our tree this year has more lights than branches, but I adore the old fashioned feeling of a tree with imperfections. It makes me want to watch Charlie Brown and string popcorn and cranberries like they did on The Waltons, where every Christmas was the best ever. My […]

Every now and then, I get an opportunity do something out of the ordinary. Something unexpected. Something rewarding. Most recently, that something came in the form of girl scouts ― eight to be exact ― gathered around a dining room table. Erica and Cydnee, troop leaders and super-moms (girl scouts, basketball, and homemade cider – […]

October 26, 2010

I love days like today. It’s kind of chilly outside and I can edit to my hearts content. While drinking hot chocolate. In sweatpants. As I was digging for a sweatshirt to perfectly complete my ensemble, I noticed my pearls on the dresser. Each time I see them, I smile. They were a gift from […]

I just adore peonies. They’re so classy and delicate and lovely. My mom cut these for me yesterday from her yard, knowing that they are my favorite. I hope I can make them last!
