Brent & Amy: Black Hills Wedding Photographer

Brent and Amy, where do I begin? I adore you both, I admire your heart for serving God and for serving each other, and I can’t even begin to describe the joy that surrounded your wedding. Thank you for keeping everything in perfect perspective and for treating me like family. Getting to know you has truly been a blessing. Enjoy a few of my favorites!  —js

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

Amy Says: There was so much of our day that was memorable. I would say the most memorable part of the day was our first look and pictures. The butterflies in my stomach as I walked towards Brent is something I never want to forget. I was so excited to see him and for him to see me! And I hiked in my dress and ended up running to the car in the rain…that is something we will never forget!

Brent Says: The most memorable part of the wedding day is a tie between Amy running down a hiking trail in her wedding dress trying to escape the rain storm that blew in on us, and seeing Amy in her dress for the first time. I had anxiously been waiting to see her dress and what she chose since she doesn’t wear dresses very often. She definitely looked far more beautiful that I could have ever expected.

Jessica’s Take: I have to second what Brent and Amy already said. I’ll ever forget Amy hiking up her wedding dress, hitting the trail, and sprinting for the car. It was very impressive.

What was your favorite detail of the wedding day (music, flowers, cake, etc.)?

Amy Says: I have two details that were my favorite. The first was our location. Brent and I love being in the black hills. Getting married on top of a hill and celebrating among the trees below was perfect for us and provided us with a lot of natural beauty! My second favorite detail was my jewelry. My grandma passed away almost two years ago so it was really special to me to be able to wear her pearls on my wedding day. I also loved having my locket with my grandmas picture on my bouquet. I think she would have loved our wedding.

Brent Says: My favorite detail of the wedding day was the lights that we hung up over the reception area. Mainly because we spend a good amount of time figuring out how to hang them and then get power to them. In the end I think it gave a great feel to our reception area!

Jessica’s Take: I loved the lights in the trees, the wood sign above the aisle, and also the wedding vows (those count!). Brent and Amy wrote them to each other, and they were incredible—honest, genuine promises.

Any advice for other couples planning a wedding?

Amy Says: Plan early. Being ahead on things helped us not have to stress out right before the big day. Also work so the day of you can just relax and enjoy the day. I didn’t worry about anything the day off because I knew other people were working out the little details.

Brent Says: Don’t sweat the small stuff. The important thing is that you are marrying your best friend. Nothing else matters, not the table decorations, flowers, guests or weather. YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED!

What’s the best part of being married so far?

Amy Says: The best part of being married thus far is getting to see my best friend and husband every day. I love waking up to him kissing my forehead and getting to say goodnight as we cuddle up to go to sleep. Nothing beats getting to do life with the man I love.

Brent Says: The best part of being married by far is waking up next to Amy every morning. In my opinion there is nothing better than waking up next to the love of my life and I look forward to doing that for the rest of our lives!

Amy’s Dad gave the message during the ceremony. This is him seeing Amy for the first time in her wedding dress…
