Austin & Anne: Black Hills Wedding Photography

Austin and Anne, the two of you were amazing from the beginning, and I can’t thank you enough for asking me to be a part of your wedding day. Everything about it felt true to who you are as a couple, and it was such an honor to be there when everything came together and you said your “I do’s”. Enjoy a few of my favorites! —js

From the Bride and Groom…

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
The most memorable part of our day was definitely seeing each other for the first time in our wedding duds! The “first glance” photo opp was one of the few intimate moments we had together that entire day and it was a special moment indeed. I (Anne) will never forget seeing Austin turn around and begin to cry when he saw me for the first time in my dress… talk about feeling like a princess! It was truly amazing.

Jessica’s Take: I loved hanging out with the girls as they got ready at Anne’s home. This time always sets the stage for the rest of the day—it’s the beginning of the story I get to tell— and Anne’s girls were calm and funny and so excited for her.

What was your favorite detail of the wedding day?
Would it be a cop out to say everything!? Seriously, the entire day could not have been any better. Obviously we loved our photographer! We both agree that Jalan Crossland and his band were a total hit as well, and we were proud that most everyone danced the night away which is not always the case at weddings. Bent Willow Designs did a phenomenal job with the flowers and A ’Viands our catering company provided an outstanding spread. We recommend serving guests family style, as this seemed to be a favorite for most of our guests and sort of set the tone for the rest of the evening. It was all great!

Jessica’s Take: I adored Anne’s shoes and her style in general, but my top pick was the casual atmosphere they created. Anne & Austin truly wanted their guests to feel at home and taken care of, and I think it was impossible not to feel that way.

Any advice for other couples planning a wedding?
Keep it simple and make it happen fast. There is really no need to draw out the planning for months and months… follow your instincts and do what you want to do as a couple. We planned our wedding in a matter of 5 months and it turned out perfect though people thought we were crazy! We did make the mistake of not taking a honeymoon right away which does make the next week of work a little tough (post wedding), but now we have something to look forward to come August 2014.

What’s the best part of being married so far?
Austin Says: Being able to call Anne my wife.

Anne Says: Being able to call Austin my husband. I would also add that there is no more stress related to the unknowns (when will he propose, will we get married, what happens next, etc.) which I think are very girl things to be concerned about. It’s nice to know we have one another for the rest of our lives and that feeling simply cannot be duplicated
