Evan & Martie: Rapid City Wedding Photography

Martie and Evan, I hope your wedding in the Black Hills was everything you wanted it to be! Thank you so much for inviting me to celebrate with you and your sweet families! I hope you enjoy a few of my favorites from your day! —js

From the Happy Couple:

1. What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

Martie: I have so many unforgettable favorite moments, but these I will never forget:
When I saw my Dad singing before he came to get me and walk me to Evan.  I enjoyed our quick pep talk as we prepared to walk up to the aisle and I saw a few tears from him and I felt mine as we made it to the top. I loved watching mom and Marissa (My Maid of honor) dance at the reception—it was too fun.  I loved listening to mom’s blessing before the dinner.  She is such a wonderful mom and everything she said was so passionate and caring.  I loved the winks and smiles from the party as we stood at the top nervously awaiting our “I will’s”, and our “I do-s” to become Mr. and Mrs. Kenitzer.

Evan: When I was getting ready to walk the moms down the aisle and I saw all the friends and family seated. It felt good to realize that they had all come to see this, and I felt so proud. As Martie walked up the path with her dad, it dawned on me that a lot of people were seeing me for the first time in years and also seeing her for the first time. It was a great feeling to share with everyone that I have her in my life.

Jessica’s Take: I loved spending time with the girls as they got ready. Everyone was so helpful to one another and excited for what the day would bring!

2. What was your favorite detail of the wedding day?

Martie: I loved – loved and loved seeing Evan all dressed in his grey suit, tie and smiling.  He held onto my hand and made me feel like a princess and I was more calm than I have ever been in my life. Also, it rained everyday that week, but on the day of the wedding the sun was shining.  I think God heard our prayers for a sunny day outside in all of his beauty.

Evan: The outdoor backdrop!

Jessica’s Take: Martie’s veil! Or their gorgeous wedding cake!

3. Any advice for other couples planning a wedding?

Martie: Make sure that you focus on what really matters to you and your family and new wife or husband.  Don’t go into it with specific expectations.  We put our wedding together in seven months, and it was hectic at times driving back and forth to Rapid City, but I loved that it was in a place that both our family and friends could enjoy.  My favorite part of my wedding week was sitting with Pastor Dan and Evan and talking about getting married … it was eye opening and it was really uplifting.

Evan: No matter how chaotic and absorbed you and the people involved get in planning, remember that at the center of it all is family—the joining of two and the start of a new one. Enjoy it and take the details you can’t control with a grain of salt, because even if it isn’t just as you visualized, it will be an amazing gathering.

4. What’s the best part of being married so far?

Martie: Waking up everyday and having a partner to drink coffee with before work.  I married my friend!  He loves me for who I am on good days and bad.  He makes decisions that are good for me and him.  I feel like he strengthens me as a person.  It’s really fun!!

Evan: There is a very solid reassurance knowing that I have someone who counts on me and someone I can count on to go through life’s ups and downs, and to start the rest of my life with.

My favorite:

I just love the way they’re smiling in this next photo. My second favorite:

The happy couple sharing a kiss immediately after the ceremony.  As it should be. 🙂
