It was cold. A South-Dakota-in-February-kind-of-cold. And because it doesn’t matter if the person behind the camera bulks up with cold weather attire, I felt that I should at least give Kelly and Lisa the chance to wait for a warmer day. But, thanks to their adventurous spirit, we took a chance.
After we began to shoot, I’m sure I thanked them at least three too many times for deciding to give it a try. Lisa grew up in Wisconsin, and their story began in Colorado, so I should have known that they’d feel at home outside on a winter day, and warm in each other’s company.
Lisa and Kelly, thank you so much for asking me to take your engagement photos! I had a great time, and as it turns out, couldn’t have asked for a better day. Enjoy a few of my favorites!

Lisa’s favorite thing about Kelly:
There are too many little things that make up my fiancé to put into words. But, what I think I love most about him is just how he loves me so unconditionally and all the little ways he shows it. We will have been together for 5 years in May, and I’ve already received a lifetime of kisses, hugs and post it notes just telling me how much he loves me.
Lisa knew she’d marry him when…
I don’t know if there was one distinct moment for me in our relationship, but it’s been more like a growing feeling until the day he proposed. When he did propose he said “You know how much I love you right?” Time just stopped and I knew all the “I love you’s” before lead up to this one. I couldn’t imagine going through life without anyone but him by my side.
Kelly’s favorite thing about Lisa:
I love that Lisa is always up for curling up on the couch to watch a movie. We have so many of the same interests and love doing things together.
Kelly knew he’d marry her when…
I knew I would marry her when she just randomly gave me a card and it said that she can’t fall asleep unless I am next to her. She went out of town a few days later and I realized that it was the same way for me.
