I emailed Makaley, who lived in Mississippi at the time, and told her if they were ever visiting the Black Hills, I would love to photograph her and her husband, Will. I went to high school with her, and had been creeping on admiring their marriage via Facebook ever since I’d seen their wedding photos. As you’ll clearly see, they have something pretty special, and I wanted to photograph them at this happy time in their lives. Makaley shared my enthusiasim, but couldn’t tell me exactly when they’d be back, as much as they wanted to be home.
Less than 24 hours later, I got another email. Makaley said that she and Will were getting to return homeāto stay. She said that she couldn’t wait to set something up. And that God is so good.
It was then that I nearly died of excitement.
Will and Makaley met through a mutual friend, and knew immediately that this was the person they were meant to spend forever with. They’re truly best friends, madly in love, and are always striving to be a blessing to each other.
Will and Makaley, thank you for looking really pretty before dawn, for being so kind and quick to laugh, and for letting me capture what marriage is all about. I hope you enjoyed this day as much as I did. Here are a few of my favorites!
Makaley, you’re stunning.
Love these next two, but that photo on the right makes me smile every time I see it. So sweet.
If I had to pick a favorite, this one might be it. Happily married? I think so.
