Leah and OJ: Black Hills Engagement Photography

It was days like this that made me so thankful to be able to do what I love.

It started out with a long — but beautiful — drive to Leah and OJ’s ranch, where horses were saddled and all the wrong shirts had been pressed.  Leah and OJ met in college, where they were on the rodeo team. They dated on and off for awhile, because according to him, he was playing hard to get. Leah raised an eyebrow and smiled at the thought.

We took the horses to an overgrown field, where Leah and OJ laughed and walked and kissed.  At one point, he got down on one knee. He proposed one year ago to the day, but because it didn’t include him asking from one knee,  he thought she deserved it now. She beamed.

The ease of being with each other was apparent, and to say that they made me feel at home would be an understatement. We finished the evening with a glass of sweet sun-tea at the kitchen table, before my long —but beautiful— drive home.

Leah and OJ, thank you so much for inviting me to your home and asking me to take your engagement photos. I wish you the best as you prepare for your wedding in September. Enjoy a few of my favorites!
