Justin & Kristin: Rapid City Engagement Photographer

If ever there were two people completely comfortable in the company they share, Justin and Kristin are them. We started out in downtown Rapid City, at their favorite hangout, and ended up playing fetch in the park with their ever-loyal friend, Bailey. I really couldn’t have asked for anything better, and I feel so very honored that they chose me to be a part of their wedding next fall. I think it’s safe to say it’s going to be incredible.

Justin and Kristin, your engagement session is proof that I have the best job ever. I’m so looking forward to working with you over the next year. Enjoy a few of my favorites! —js

Kristin, what’s your favorite thing about Justin?
As difficult as it is to pick one thing, I’d have to say my most favorite thing about Justin would be how thoughtful he is. As cliché as it sounds, I truly thought men like my father no longer existed…and then I found Justin. Aside from how thoughtful he is, I love how silly we are together…mainly how silly I am and how much he loves how silly I am; there’s not a day that goes by that we don’t make each other laugh.

You knew you’d marry him when…
We talked about our long-standing history during our photo session, and I knew I was in trouble as soon as Justin and I reunited for the second time. However, I’d have to say there were two separate instances that made me realize he was the one. The first was when he went to my parents’ house for dinner when I was out of town and proceeded to stay and visit for over an hour after dinner. The second was after Justin and I had been away from each other for a couple weeks. I came back, and he had remembered me telling him my favorite flower (calla lily). There sat a potted one for me to plant. If that wasn’t already enough, the next day he made a “Kristin list” which listed 10 very sweet things he wanted me to know about how he felt about me. Needless to say, Justin knew the way to this hopeless romantic girls heart!

Justin, what’s your favorite thing about Kristin?
My favorite thing about Kristin—and this is so hard to narrow down because there is so much I love about her—is that she is truly my best friend. I’m sure you hear it all of time and there are a lot of couples that would say that. However, with Kristin, she makes that statement true with how she is so unconditionally loving and supportive of everything that I do and is rarely judgmental even when I make mistakes (I am a boy, so that can happen often!). To me, that is the definition of a true friend and someone that I am willing to spend the rest of my life with. A very close second in my favorite things about Kristin is her honesty with me in any situation. Those qualities, along with the rest of the package, make me a very lucky man.

You know you’d marry her when…
I knew I’d marry Kristin the first time I told my mother about her (which didn’t happen immediately in our relationship). I knew that I was falling in love with Kristin (very fast I must add) but I just wasn’t ready to tell Mom yet. So after weeks of keeping her a secret, I felt that it was time to tell my mother that I had someone very special in my life. The first question that came out of my mother’s mouth was, “Is this the one?”, without hesitation and really without thought I said, “ABSOLUTELY!” That is when I knew I would marry her, which is different story from when I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her……to be told another time.

I love this next one because Bailey is blinking. So cute.
