On Being Tender-Hearted

It’s not that I mean for it to happen. But it does.

I used to think I was tough-skinned. I didn’t cry at a movie until sometime in college, but now I find tears welling in the corners of my eyes during movies and commercials and ESPN specials. What? No one else got choked up at the War Horse preview?

Yesterday it was Bob Dylan’s fault. In case you haven’t heard, that man can write a song. And although I didn’t cry (it only counts if tears actually fall), I loved it so much that I found myself listening hard to every word—words that made my heart hurt just enough to know it was a keeper.

So, I wanted to pass it along in case you hadn’t heard it already. If you know a song that does the same things to you, let me know in the comments below. I’d love to hear it!
